recurring texture issues
last semester Renderman's subdiv scheme wreaked havoc with my catguy's texture:
and now, it's happening again with my caricature:

with Catguy, Ed just had me render smoothed (ugh) because we couldn't figure out what was causing the problem and figured it was just a glitch. but now that it's happening again, we've got to invest some serious brainpower in figuring out what the heck is going on. if anybody out there wants to take a look at the file, let me know.

Maybe you've already figured this out, but it's nonmanifold geometry that causes this. You select the geo, go to polygons->cleanup (option box) and do a select and cleanup making sure only the nonmanifold geometry box is checked (it's under "other"). That should fix it. At least it did for me and a few other seniors.
