curiouser cover art in progress

so for anyone who doesn't know, my plan for NaNoWriMo is to rewrite a story that had been started as a comic. That being said I did have some sketches from the comic that I will be posting throughout the month of November to keep myself motivated to continue with the project.

On the NaNoWriMo website there is a space to upload a cover for your book-in-progress, and for it I decided to rework a simple emblem that had appeared in the comic. In its original incarnation, it looked a little something like this:

I knew it would need to dig a bit deep deeper to be a viable cover, so I started sketching, and this royal crest began to appear:

...which was then scanned, and cleaned up:

As always with my projects, I'm nowhere near happy with it. I actually think I like it better as a little doodle, that I overworked it to make it more...cover-y. hmm. We'll figure something out!
